Armed man barricades himself in German restaurant, elite police preparing to storm

An armed man has barricaded himself inside a restaurant in the western German city of Saarbruecken. A police elite counter-terrorism unit has been scrambled to storm the building, Bild reports.

A bloodied, armed man is holed up inside a restaurant in the German city of Saarbruecken according to the German tabloid Bild. It is believed that some members of staff managed to escape the building as the attacker entered.

There are reports that the German police counter-terrorism unit (SEK) is getting ready to storm the building.

Bild is showing live footage from the site, in which a street has been cordoned off and a police vehicle can also be seen.
