Munich mall shooting: Multiple casualties, gunmen still at large

Officials say that at least nine people are dead, and more wounded, after a suspected three gunmen opened fire on shoppers in a busy mall in Munich, in southern Germany. Those responsible remain at large, despite a massive police manhunt.

Shooting rampage in Munich: 6 dead in shopping center, gunmen at large & dangerous

At least six people have been killed and unidentified number of people injured in a shooting at the Olympia shopping mall in Munich, Germany, according to police. Police are still hunting for the shooters and suspects that the incident is a terrorist attack.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the shooting but Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) supporters are already celebrating the incident on the social media.
Munich police warned that the shooters are still on the run and they are dangerous.
Police earlier said they were dealing with a "shooting rampage."

Reports of shooting at shopping mall in Munich, people fleeing

Shooting has been heard at the Olympia shopping mall in Munich, Germany, reports on social media say. In a video posted online, people can be seen running out of the building to seek shelter.
Police have confirmed that shots have been fired in the shopping mall. At the same time, police gave no information on casualties and did not reveal who was responsible for the incident, Reuters reports.
German media reports multiple deaths in the shooting in the Olympia center.

Nearly 20,000 emails and more than 8,000 attachments from the Democratic National Committee have been released by WikiLeaks. This is part one of their new Hillary Leaks series, the whistleblower organization said in press release.
The emails released Friday cover a period from Janury 2015 to May 2016. They purportedly come from the accounts of seven major figures in the DNC: Senior Adviser Andrew Wright, National Finance Director Jordon Kaplan, Finance Chief of Staff Scott Comer, Communications Director Luis Miranda, Northern California Finance Director Robert Stowe, Finance Director of Data & Strategic Initiatives Daniel Parrish and Finance Director Allen Zachary.

Homeland Security detains US journalist returning from Beirut, tries to confiscate phones

A Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reporter returning from Beirut was taken into holding, grilled and asked to hand over her phones by the Department of Homeland Security at Los Angeles International Airport.
When the journalist, Maria Abi-Habib, returned from Beirut, it was another ordinary work trip. But after touching down at LAX in Los Angeles, she was treated as a dangerous suspect by the service, which now enjoys broad authority at airports.
She outlined the ordeal in a Facebook post, largely focusing on the dangers of the loss of privacy and the risk to journalistic work emerging out of the DHS practice.

IMF chief Lagarde to stand trial in €400mn payout case

IMF chief Christine Lagarde must stand trial for her role in a €400 million payout case, while she was French finance minister back in 2008, France's highest appeals court has ruled.
Lagarde is accused of “negligence” which “resulted in a misuse of public funds by a third party,” the Cour de Cassation, one of France's courts of last resort, said in a statement on Friday.
The IMF board, in the meantime, said the organization is confident that Lagarde is able to carry out her duties effectively following the ruling. News that the IMF chief may face a negligence trial in France had been circulating in the media for several years.

Putin calls for independent public commission to handle doping issue

Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged the creation of an independent commission, with the inclusion of foreign experts, to address problems with the anti-doping system in Russian sports.
“There is no place and can never be a place for any doping in sports,” the Russian president said, telling Russia’s Olympic Committee to work closely with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Putin proposed veteran sports official and former IOC vice president Vitaly Smirnov as the head of the independent commission.
