Il sub prende un pesce, ma lo aspetta una brutta sorpresa
Un subacqueo spara con il suo fucile e riesce a catturare un pesce, ma, proprio mentre libera la sua preda dalla fiocina, c’è un pesce più grosso che lo aggredisce. Al subacqueo non resta che mollare la presa. Il filmato, ripreso nelle acque della Florida, è stato caricato sulla pagina Facebook di Florida Salt Life che lo ha intitolato: «Non sempre sei tu il pesce più grosso nell’Oceano».

50 shades of blue: Scientists say sadness affects color perception
'Feeling blue' or 'seeing things through rose-tinted glasses' may not just be melodramatic statements. New research suggests that emotions can actually influence the way we see color. Feeling sadness may affect the way we perceive color the results of two recent studies have proved.
In one study, the researchers had 127 undergraduate participants watch an emotional film clip and then complete a visual judgment task. The participants were asked to watch an animated film clip designed to induce sadness, or a standup comedy clip meant to elicit fun and amusement. After watching the video clip, the participants were shown 48 consecutive, desaturated color patches and were asked to indicate whether each patch was red, yellow, green or blue.
It turned out that participants who were made to feel sad were less accurate in identifying colors on the blue-yellow axis than those who were caused to be amused or emotionally neutral.

Cowabunga! French surfer rides waves in high heels & cocktail dress
Most women will tell you that merely walking in high heels is a challenge. Professional surfer Maud Le Car doesn't seem to agree, with a new video showing the French beauty riding waves in heels and a little black dress, putting the sexy back into sport .
The video begins with Le Car approaching the beach, turning heads as she carries her board towards the water sporting a lacy black dress and holding a pair of high heels.
Le Car stops at the water's edge, putting on her shoes and fastening her leg rope. She then paddles out to the sea as if it were the most natural thing in the world, gracefully riding the waves like a true champ.
The pro surfer tweeted that the video was made because she “lost a bet,” though others have speculated it was filmed as an advertisement for natural mosquito protection brand Para'Kito, her sponsor.

Timelapse: 400-tonne castle tower moved using metal rollers, Japan
A 400-year-old castle tower in Japan began a slow, two month journey to move just 80 meters to a nearby site yesterday (3 August). The tower, also weighing 400 tons, was moved due to the stone wall it rests on becoming bent. The transfer will make repairs possible. It was moved around 4 meters during the first day and is expected to take 2 months to be moved the necessary distance.

Aerial footage: La reunion volcano and spits bubbling molten lava
Piton de la Fournaise or "Peak of the Furnace" volcano, located on the eastern side of Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, has been erupting for ten days, the fourth time since the beginning of the year.
Aerial views of the volcano remain a wonderful and disturbing in equal measure.

"La caffeina in polvere è dannosa per la salute". L'allarme della FDA: "Può essere mortale.
Viene da pensare che qualche cosa non quadri. Se e'dannosa per la salute, perché la si lascia sul mercato? Qui crediamo doveroso l'intervento della Unione Consumatori Internazionale.
Spesso si discute dei benefici del caffè, della quantità giornaliera da assumere e dei limiti da non superare. Negli Stati Uniti il dibattito recente è occupato non dai pro e i contro della solita tazzina, ma dagli effetti devastanti della cosiddetta "caffeina purissima in polvere". La Federal and Drug Administration ha messo in guardiacontro il consumo , che se non tenuto sotto controllo può anche causare la morte a seguito di overdose. Un solo cucchiaino di questa polvere vale come 28 tazzine di caffè. Il pacchetto da 100 grammi corrisponde a 400 caffè di Starbucks formato "tall", 1250 lattine di Red Bull e 3000 lattine di Coca Cola.

Migranti, i cittadini si organizzano: convoglio di auto da Vienna a Budapest per salvarli.
Hanno paura che sia illegale, ma lo faranno lo stesso. Un convoglio di auto di cittadini comuni domenica mattina partirà dal Praterstadium di Vienna, destinazione Budapest. Obiettivo: dare un passaggio a migliaia di rifugiati verso la "libertà", verso l'Austria e poi la Germania. Se nel frattempo non si sarà sbloccata la situazione a livello politico è anche già fissato l'orario: alle 11 tutti in marcia sull'asfalto. Come l'appello della professoressa islandese per chiedere al suo paese di ospitare più rifugiati, anche questa iniziativa (rischiosa) è nata su Facebook. Si chiama "Convoglio Vienna-Budapest" e ha già raccolto più di 2000 partecipanti.
Auto, camioncini , furgoni , ogni mezzo. E inoltre cibo e medicinali. "Vogliamo evitare altre morti di rifugiati dentro ai camion" spieganodopo la notizia dei 71 cadaveri di profughi trovati in Austria la scorsa settimana. Vogliono aiutare e lo faranno a ogni costo: rischiano a dare un passaggio ai rifugiati bloccati a Budapest, a cui oggi se ne sono aggiunti - cifra record per flusso migratorio in una sola giornata - altri 3.313. Vengono da Siria, Afghanistan, Pakistan.

Un treno per l'ignoto - commento di Misha Lermontov su una foto
Quando ho visto questa foto pubblicata da Repubblica, ho avuto un senso di impotenza fortissimo. Una donna al finestrino con lo sguardo perduto, al di lá della vita e della morte. Una donna come tante , forse con figli . Una donna che non ha avuto la fortuna delle altre. Una donna che rappresenta un genere umano considerato carne da macello, un nulla da usare e buttare. Una donna che peró da la sua vita senza chiedere e crede di poter essere felice per quel poco che invece le viene sempre tolto, anche la vita, a volte. Risolvere il problema dei rifugiati non é cosa da poco, ma a me sembra che questo flusso migratorio somigli a quello dell'immediato dopoguerra del 1946. Spero di essermi sbagliato.

Migrant crisis: EU 'must accept 200,000 refugees', UN says
EU nations must accept up to 200,000 refugees as part of a "common strategy" to replace their "piecemeal" approach to the migrant crisis, the UN says. Antonio Guterres, head of the UN refugee agency, said the EU must mobilise "full force" for the crisis, calling it a "defining moment". EU leaders, split over sharing the refugee burden, are scrambling to agree a response in meetings on Friday. In Hungary, hundreds of refugees are locked in a stalemate with authorities. Migrants hoping to reach the Austrian border have refused to disembark from a train surrounded by police in the Hungarian town of Bicske, 40km (25 miles) from Budapest.

Russia's Gazprom Cements Gas Ties with European Partners
Russia's Gazprom increased its industrial muscle in the heart of Europe on Friday, bulking up through the deals on asset swaps and more pipeline capacity with energy companies keen to get back to business as usual.
Gazprom secured access to western European gas storage as well as a deal with industry partners to double the capacity of the Nord Stream pipeline to deliver gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine, with which Russia is in a protracted conflict.
The surprise revival of an abandoned deal between the Russian behemoth and German chemicals group BASF will give Gazprom access to German gas trading and storage in exchange for more stakes in Siberian gas fields.
