Una nuova legge comunale vieta ai privati di affittare l'appartamento per intero, limitando l'opzione alle camere. Una misura che punta ad impedire il generale aumento dei prezzi in modo che restino alla portata dei residenti. Gli affitti a Berlino sono aumentati del 56% tra il 2009 e il 2014, ma restano bassi se paragonati alla media delle principali città europee, intorno ai 10 euro per metro quadrato. Suicide rates in French prisons are almost double the European average. The latest data from the Council of Europe, in "a report published in December 2015", shows that the rate in France was 12.4 suicides per 10,000 inmates in 2013. The median rate across the European Union was 5.4 suicides per 10,000 inmates.

EMIGRANTS - Boom times for Turkey's lucrative smuggling rings



Aksaray district in Istanbul is the place where many asylum seekers go to find smugglers to travel to Europe.
Abu Khaled is a smuggler from the Syrian city of Dara’a. He oversees a network of 15 smugglers and brokers who take migrants by land to Greece and Bulgaria. Abu Khaled, who asked for his identity be concealed, is meeting one of his brokers who brought him a migrant that wants to travel to Greece.

AMERICA - Seattle May day march turns violent



At least five police officers have been injured and nine people arrested during violent May Day protests in the U.S. city of Seattle.There were ugly scenes in Seattle's downtown district as anti-capitalist demonstrators through rocks and other projectiles at police, including Molotov cocktails. One officer reportedly suffered a gash to the head. 
A large deployment of riot police, both on foot and bicycle, quickly moved in to control the crowd.

EUROZONE - 'Night Wolves' bikers refused entry into Poland



Bikers from Russia's ultra-nationalist 'Night Wolves' Club were refused entry into Poland on Sunday. 
Poland's foreign ministry said the Pro-Kremlin group, which has links to Russian President Vladimir Putin, had been banned from crossing the border with Belarus for security reasons. 
Last week Moscow condemned such border bans, summoning Poland's ambassador over a similar incident.

AMERICA - Washington, DC chemical leak after freight train derails



Emergency teams in the U.S. Capital has successfully sealed a leak on a freight train after it derailed on Sunday. 
Fourteen wagons on the CSX train overturned in Washington D.C. Spilling hazardous liquid, including sodium hydroxide. No evacuation orders were issued and nobody was injured in the accident.

3 bombings in & around Baghdad kill 14, injure dozens 

At least fourteen people have been killed and dozens more injured when three bombs went off in separate locations in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, police and medics said, as cited by Reuters.
The worst explosion hit the Sunni-dominated Saydiya district of southwestern Baghdad. A bomb in a parked car, killed eleven people and injured 30 more, sources said. 
The majority of the victims were Shiite Muslim pilgrims who were on their way to the shrine, in the Iraqi capital, of Imam Moussa al-Kadhim, a great-grandson of Prophet Mohammad.
Security forces have cordoned off the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital, and the dead bodies for forensic examination, a police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told local Alsumaria TV.
