Russia ordered the temporary closure of four McDonald's restaurants in Moscow on Wednesday, a decision it said was over sanitary violations but which comes against a backdrop of worsening U.S.-Russian ties over Ukraine.
The four restaurants ordered to suspend operations by the state food safety watchdog included the first ever McDonald's in Russia, which opened in the last days of the Soviet Union, and which the company says is its most frequented in the world.

Macy's pays £400,000 to settle allegations of racial profiling

American retail giant Macy's has agreed to pay $650,000 (£390,400 )to settle allegations of racial profiling at its flagship store in Manhattan's Herald Square.

Under the agreement signed Tuesday with New York's attorney general, the company will adopt new policies on police access to its security camera monitors and against profiling, further train employees, investigate customer complaints, keep better records of detentions and report for three years on its compliance.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said the settlement should help ensure customers are treated equally regardless of race or ethnicity at the retail giant's 42 department stores statewide.

Lo Stato islamico in Iraq e nel Levante (Isis) ha annunciato oggi di aver decapitato un giornalista americano scomparso in Siria oltre un anno fa,James Foley, e ha postato su internet un video, dal titolo "messaggio all'America", in cui apparentemente se ne vede la decapitazione. 
James Foley, un freelance che ha realizzato molti reportage per l'Afp e numerosi altri media, e' stato rapito nel nord-ovest della Siria il 22 novembre 2012. Nel video, di cui non e' possibile verificare l'autenticità, appare nel deserto, in ginocchio, con indosso una tuta arancione e con un terrorista, interamente vestito di nero e col volto coperto, che gli preme un coltello alla gola.
