British couple stranded in NYC with medical bill to pay of about 200,000USD

A British couple have been left stranded in New York City for the next three months with a £130,000 ($200,000) medical bill after their son was born 11 weeks earlier than expected. Katie Amos, 30, and her fiancée Lee Johnston, 29, were not prepared for their son Dax to be born at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan during a Christmas trip to the city. The couple had planned the trip as a last holiday before their baby arrived. The couple had been walking through Central Park when Amos suddenly went into labor on December 28. Dax was born weighing just 3 pounds. Doctors told the couple they could not fly back to their UK home in Burgh-le-Marsh, Lincolnshire, until March 10. It is unclear whether their travel insurance will cover the cost of medical treatment – which is estimated to be more than £130,000.Friends and family have set up a fundraising campaign "Dax's Tale of New York" to help them through the next three months in New York, which has so far raised £6,248.
The online appeal, which is written from the perspective of baby Dax, reads: “We need your help as Mummy and Daddy have no money, no clothes, no friends or family or a familiar face to just say hello to!”  Ronald McDonald House, a charity that provides a “home-away-from-home” for families whose children have been hospitalized, have provided accommodation for the parents.

Iran 'thwarts Mossad attempt to assassinate nuclear scientist'

Iran claims it has foiled an assassination attempt against one of its nuclear scientists by the Israeli intelligence service, Mossad. A senior Iranian security official said the Revolutionary Guards thwarted the attempt.

Tehran has long accused Israel’s Mossad of running a campaign to assassinate Iran’s nuclear scientists and thus slow down the nuclear program. At least five Iranian scientists have been murdered, mostly by bombs planted in their cars, but no Israeli agents have been caught.

ODG versus Google glasses?

Based on high-tech military wearables, a California-based company is unveiling consumer-oriented state-of-the-art augmented reality glasses - a competitor to Google Glass. They are expected to be released in 2015 at prices below $1000.
The new Smart Glasses system by Osterhout Design Group (ODG) is similar to the heavy duty glasses it has been supplying the US Department of Defense for more than a year, according to the ODG press-release. ODG said the new gadget will provide head worn computing and augmented reality. The Smart Glasses are based on a ReticleOS operating system that uses Android and can run any Android-based application.
The gadget has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 802.11ac Wi-Fi wireless networking and navigation via the global positioning system (GPS), Russian Glonass, and Magellan satellite networks, Venturebeat reported. The device has storage of 128-gigabytes, magnetic audio jacks, two digital microphones and a 5-megapixel camera.

To imagine that recently constructed a viaduct can quickly collapse for structural failure, can not but strike the attention. In an age so technologically advanced, can not occur similar accident, unthinkable in the past.

Fatto e crollato.
