US to accept 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016
The US will take at least 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next fiscal year, which begins in October, following criticism from
EU that Washington doesn't do enough. The announcement was made by White House spokesman Josh Earnest.
Fewer than 1500 Syrian refugees have been resettled in the US so far as Europe is facing hundreds of thousands running away from the conflict in the Middle East.
