IOC seeks `legal options' of possible total ban on Russian team from Rio Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is exploring legal options regarding the possibility of introducing a blanket ban on Russia competing at next month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. However, it will also weigh up the legal right for the athletes to compete.
The IOC stopped short of issuing an outright ban, saying aside from exploring all legal avenues, it would also take into account a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which is set to rule on whether Russian track and field athletes will be allowed to compete at this summer’s games.
The IOC “will explore the legal options with regard to a collective ban of all Russian athletes for the Olympic Games 2016 versus the right to individual justice. In this respect, the IOC will have to take the CAS decision on 21 July 2016 concerning the IAAF rules into consideration, as well as the World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Charter,” the statement of the Executive Board of the IOC reads.

Man stabs mom & 3 daughters at French holiday center, reportedly 'for being scantily dressed'
A 37-year-old man identified as ‘Mohamed B’ has stabbed a mother and her three daughters at a vacation center in southeast France. The man may have “found them too lightly dressed,” local media reported.
The life of one of the daughters, an eight-year-old girl, is in danger and she is receiving treatment at a hospital in the town of Gap. Her mother and sisters – aged between eight and 14 – have also been admitted to the same hospital.
The incident happened at about 10am on Tuesday morning at the VVF vacation center located in the Garde -Colombe department in the Haute-Alpes area. The attacker violently stabbed the woman and girls, before driving away from the scene. He was detained a few minutes later.
Some local media suggest a possible religious motive behind the attack as the man allegedly accused the girls and their mother of being dressed too lightly. The authorities have so far not provided details on the possible reasons behind the assault, with the local prosecutor Raphaël Balland saying that the motive remains “very vague.” “These are all rumors, he didn’t say anything relating to religion,”Balland added.
French media also said that the man was not on the so-called ‘Fiche S’ list, associated with radicalized individuals.

An armed man has reportedly holed up at a hotel in southern France, with police blocking the perimeter of 250 meters around the building. The motives of the man are as yet unknown, French media report.
The hotel has been evacuated, La Dauphine media outlet reported.

26 dead in Taiwan tourist bus fire
Twenty-six people are believed killed after a bus carrying tourists caught fire and burst into flames after an accident on a highway in Taiwan, China. The accident happened near Taoyuan City as the bus was heading to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
