Missing Quebec girl found dead

                        
Cédrika Provencher's family members are saying they can finally start mourning after her body was found in Saint-Maurice, near Trois-Rivières, Que.
The Sûreté du Québec announced late Saturday that the remains found in a wooded area belonged to the girl, who went missing in 2007.Cédrika's father Martin Provencher wrote on Facebook that the family could start mourning. Cédrika's loved ones were informed of the news Saturday. He thanked everyone for their unwavering support since 2007.
"Without you, we would still be at the same point," wrote Provencher. "You have helped us overcome another step in this horrible tragedy." The girl was last seen on July 31, 2007, near her home in Trois-Rivières. She was reportedly approached by an adult who asked for help to find a missing dog. She was never seen again. Cédrika was nine at the time.

Le Pen’s National Front loses in 2nd round of French regional elections 

France’s far-right National Front party, headed by Marine Le Pen, has failed to win a single region in the second round of the country’s regional elections after a solid victory in the first round, several exit polls have shown.
In the northern region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Le Pen was beaten by Xavier Bertrand from the center-right Les Republicains (formerly the UMP).  According to the Ifop Fiducial poll for iTELE, Paris Match and Sud Radio, Le Pen won 42.2 percent while Bertrand secured 57 percent.
Le Pen’s niece, Marion Marechal Le Pen lost to Republican Christian Estrosi in Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur.

Blast destroys front of building in Belgian town 

A powerful explosion has rocked a building in the Belgian town of Verviers, almost completely destroying its facade, local media report. It is not yet clear what caused the blast and if there have been any casualties.
Witnesses have posted numerous photos on Twitter, which showed three floors of the building had been damaged. Some users suggested there might have been a gas explosion.

Russian destroyer fires warning shots at Turkish fishing boat on collision course in Aegean

A Russian destroyer had to open warning fire as a Turkish fishing vessel sailed on a collision course towards them and didn’t respond to calls from the warship, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The incident happened in the northern part of the Aegean Sea some 12 nautical miles from the Greek island of Lemnos, the ministry said.

Ecco perché ci sono così tanti profili falsi su Facebook

Vi invitiamo a leggere questo articolo di Chiara Severgnini su La Stampa, perché troviamo molto interessante la sua osservazione in merito all'uso abuso di Facebook. Non sarebbe male poter ricevere una vostra opinione su questo argomento che sembra inutile, ma potrebbe creare molte sfaccettature di una legge in vigore.
Unica osservazione:  Chiara non ha incluso  e' Google, dove milioni di profili  sono lettaral mente fake!!
Quando a chiederci l’amicizia su Facebook è quel parente un po’ antipatico o il collega spione, prima di cliccare su “accetta” ci pensiamo sempre un paio di volte. I social, ormai, sono parte integrante delle nostre vite, ma ogni tanto ci viene il dubbio che possano distruggerle. Quella battuta un po’ pesante che ha fatto tanto ridere i nostri amici potrebbe non piacere alla zia. E forse è meglio che il capo non veda le fotografie di quella festa a cui siamo stati prima di una riunione importante. Per molti la soluzione è semplice: usare un nome falso.

Svolta storica in Arabia Saudita, elette 4 donne

Sono almeno quattro le donne saudite che sono state elette nello storico voto di ieri per le regionali. Lo scrive al Jazeera citando media locali. Il conteggio delle schede è ancora in corso, ma secondo i primi dati due hanno ottenuto un seggio nel consigli comunali nel governatorato di Ihsaa e due rispettivamente in quello di Tobouk e della Mecca. Le elezioni di ieri sono state le prime in cui le donne potevano votare ed essere elette.   
Oltre 900 donne si erano candidate, contro quasi 6.000 uomini, in 284 comuni che hanno poteri limitati alle questioni locali, come gestione di strade, giardini pubblici e raccolta dei rifiuti. «Sono felice di aver votato per la prima volta nella mia vita», ha dichiarato una donna, che ha rifiutato di dare il suo nome, all’agenzia di stampa Dpa.

Cuffaro esce dal carcere

Torna in libertà l'ex governatore della Sicilia Salvatore Cuffaro dopo essere stato in carcere per 4 anni e 11 mesi. Cuffaro è appena uscito dal carcere di Rebibbia a Roma. "E' bello respirare la libertà. Oggi posso dire di aver superato il carcere", queste le prime parole dell'ex governatore.
Cuffaro, condannato a sette anni per favoreggiamento aggravato alla mafia, è stato in carcere meno di cinque anni: 4 anni e 11 mesi. Ora che ha chiuso i conti con la giustizia, grazie all'indulto di un anno per i reati "non ostativi" e lo sconto di 45 giorni ogni sei mesi per buona condotta, torna uomo libero. Per lui è la fine di un incubo (gli amici lo chiamano "calvario") che vuole vivere in una dimensione privata.

Paolo Sorrentino trionfa a Berlino e fa tris. Il regista napoletano si porta infatti a casa agli Efa con 'Youth - La giovinezza' non solo il premio più importante, quello del miglior film europeo 2015, ma anche la miglior regia e il premio al miglior attore andato a Michael Caine. Così Sorrentino ottiene un doppio risultato: riscattare la sconfitta di Cannes, dove il film era in concorso, e allo stesso tempo, rilanciare la sua opera verso una possibile candidatura agli Oscar (lo si saprà solo il 14 gennaio). Niente invece a Nanni Moretti, anche lui sconfitto sulla Croisette, che con 'Mia madre' correva agli Efa nella categoria miglior regista e in quella di miglior attrice (Margherita Buy).
