Inchiesta sui sacchetti biodegradabili

Sacchetti biodegradabili o no?

L’accusa ipotizzata è frode in commercio.

Uganda on alert over 'foiled al-Shabab plot'

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-29193649
The authorities in Uganda have uncovered a terrorist cell which they believe was planning an imminent attack, the US embassy in Kampala says. It said the cell belonged to Somali Islamist group al-Shabab, but this has yet to be confirmed by Ugandan police. The embassy earlier warned US citizens in the capital to stay at home during a police operation to uncover the cell. Ugandan police say they have increased security in public places across Kampala, and made several arrests.
Earlier this week, the US embassy warned of possible revenge attacks against US targets by al-Shabab in response to the US air strike that killed the group's leader Ahmed Abdi Godane on 2 September. 'Stay at home' "We're increasing patrols in the city, major towns and other vulnerable places," police spokesman Fred Enanga told reporters on Saturday. In addition to making several arrests, the police said they had seized explosive materials.

Philippines search for survivors after ferry sinks

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-29193653

Officials in central Philippines have launched a rescue operation after a ferry carrying 84 passengers and crew sank in bad weather. They say 55 people have been rescued, with 29 people still missing. An order to abandon ship was given at around 21:20 (13:20 GMT) after the vessel encountered strong winds and huge waves, coast guard officials say. The Philippines has a poor record for maritime safety, with scores of people dying in accidents every year.
The MV Maharlika II ferry sank north-west off Panaon Island, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council says. It said the ferry suffered steering problems "due to big waves and strong current". Rescue boats had trouble reaching survivors because of the "huge waves," a spokesman for the council, Mina Marasigan, told AFP news agency.
Maritime accidents are common in the Philippine archipelago because of tropical weather, badly maintained passenger boats and weak enforcement of safety regulations, correspondents say.

Family of Briton Ghavami held in Iran appeal for release

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-29189038
The family of a British-Iranian woman being held in Iran after going to a men's volleyball match have appealed for her release. Ghoncheh Ghavami, 25, was detained after the match in June. Her family say they do not know if she is being held under any charge. She is now reportedly being held in Tehran's infamous Evin prison. The UK Foreign Office said it was aware of reports of a Briton being detained and is "following up" the case.
The FCO says it has "limited ability to assist [UK nationals] in any difficulty" in Iran and that the Iranian authorities are "unlikely to grant any consular access". Ms Ghavami was initially arrested after the match, which took place on 20 June. There was a protest at the time against a ban on women attending, but her brother Iman told BBC 5 Live Breakfast that she was "simply there to get into the stadium and watch the match".
She was released but then re-arrested when she went to collect her belongings a few days later.

Second Russian aid convoy enters Ukraine without permission from Kyiv

A convoy of Russian aid trucks bound for the separatist held city of Luhansk in east Ukraine have crossed the border into the country. It is the second such convoy to enter Ukraine without the permission of the government in Kyiv. According to Russia the trucks are carrying food, medicine and generators. A fragile ceasefire continues to hold despite reports of sporadic fighting. At the Yalta European Strategy meeting taking place in the Ukranian capital acting Prime Minster Arseniy Yatsenyuk said two-way talks between Kyiv and Moscow are unequal and should be avoided: “We are not so strong to have bilateral talks and get a bilateral deal with Russia. They will outplay us, that’s what they expect and what they want to do. Putin wants a frozen conflict and he wants his hands in our belly fat.”

Windows 9 arriva a fine mese, ecco le novità

Windows 9

Building collapse at Nigerian megachurch

Collapsed church in Nigeria

At least three people were killed when a building linked to one of Nigeria's most famous preachers and televangelists collapsed in Lagos, the country's main relief agency said on Friday, AFP reports.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said the building -- thought to be a guesthouse for foreign members of TB Joshua's The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) -- came down in the city's Ikotun area. "We have three dead. Scores of others are still trapped. Eighteen were rescued alive and have been taken to various hospitals," NEMA's southwest coordinator Ibrahim Farinloye told AFP from the scene.
TB Joshua, dubbed "The Prophet", has an almost fanatical following among many Nigerians and others across the world, who are attracted by his purported healing powers and prophecies.

200,000 still stranded in killer Kashmir floods

Kashmir situation after foods

More than 200,000 people remained stranded Saturday in Indian Kashmir even as flood waters receded, revealing the full extent of the horrific devastation in the Himalayan region, including neighbouring Pakistan, officials said, AFP reports.
The floods and landslides from days of heavy monsoon rains have now claimed more than 450 lives in Pakistan and India, with rescuers struggling to cope with the large-scale disaster.
But as the muddy brown waters subside, emergency officials are able to reach more stranded people in Srinagar, the main city of Indian Kashmir, and surrounding areas afflicted by the worst flooding in a century.
"Rescue teams are now able to go inside houses and get out those still trapped inside and account for the dead bodies," Shantmanu, divisional commissioner of Jammu region, who uses one name, told AFP.

Anti-Semitic attacks nearly double in France

Antisemitism in France

Anti-Semitic attacks nearly doubled in France in the first seven months of the year, the country's main Jewish group said Thursday, AFP reports.
A total of 529 anti-Semitic actions or threats were registered up to the end of July, against 276 for the same period last year, the Council of Jewish Institutions in France (CRIF) said, citing figures gleaned from the interior ministry.
They included violence against individuals, arson and vandalism. Such anti-Semitic acts "exacerbate the growing unease that oppresses Jews in France each day and overshadows their future", CRIF said in a statement.
Yet more worrying, the group added, is the appearance of new forms of violence against Jews -- including attacks by organised gangs and the targeting of synagogues, as well as acts of vandalism against Jewish businesses and "terrorist attacks".
Last week the French office of the Jewish Agency for Israel said that more Jews have left France for Israel so far this year than from any other country, blaming a "climate of anti-Semitism".

Kazakhstan looks to ban gay 'propaganda' and identify gays by searching for degeneratism in their DNA

gay banning propaganda

Bolashak, a Kazakhstan national movement known for its calls to extradite Rakhat Aliyev to Kazakhstan, and a group of social activists from Almaty have petitioned to legally ban gay "propaganda" in kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports.
They organised a press-conference in Almaty on September 11. The activists urged the Parliament to introduce changes into the country's legislation to ban gay "propaganda" and prohibit the people known to be gay from holding public offices and serving in the Kazakh army.
The lawmakers are now working on a new version of the Marriage and Family Code that already bans people known to be gay from adopting children. This is where the anti-gay changes are expected to appear soon.
The legal ban is highly called for, according to Bolashak's leader Dauren Babamuratov, 30, because the Kazakh society has been experiencing a lot of pressure from its gay members over the past several years.
According to Bolashak, "over 100 stories mentioning LGBT representatives have 'seeped' into the country's media over the past two years". To understand the scale of the gay threat to the Kazakh society one should know that there are around 2700 media outlets in Kazakhstan, a country the size of Western Europe, but with a population of only 17 million.

Babamuratov continued by saying that "unconfirmed reports suggest there are about 14 gay clubs and bars in Almaty" with effectively "made Almaty the gay capital of Central Asia", and expressing his outrage at the fact that "open discussion of the issues related to LGBT community is treated by the society as a natural process".
To support the claims that gay propaganda existed in Kazakhstan the chief speaker reminded about the scandal over the now infamous ads poster depicting a local version of the world famous gay smooch, this one between two historical figures – one Kazakh, the other – Russian. The poster caused quite a stir among Kazakhstanis and several political figures even slammed it publicly. A law suit was filed against the poster creators.
