The French port-town of Calais has been blockaded by around a hundred local ferry workers as part of a union strike. They have burned tires and closed off the port in protest at mass redundancies. Illegal migrants who've been camped out in Calais for months trying reach the UK have reportedly used the situation to sneak on to lorries waiting to cross the channel.
