Accused Philadelphia Abduction Kidnapper to First Face Charges in Va.

The man accused of randomly grabbing a Philadelphia woman off the street and kidnapping her to Maryland must first face charges in a rape case in Virginia, police said. Delvin Barnes, 37, was arrested Wednesday after 22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither went missing Sunday in a violent abduction caught on surveillance camera. Philadelphia detectives said they worked off of a tip from a car dealer that recognized the suspect in the video, and Barnes and Freeland-Gaither were eventually tracked in his gray Ford Taurus south of Baltimore. Freeland-Gaither was taken to a hospital for undisclosed injuries, but was in good condition, police said Wednesday night.
