A 5.1 magnitude earthquake has struck the Kumamoto perefecture of the southwestern Japanese island of Kyushu, according to U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake measures 4.9 magnitude according to Japanese meteorological agency.
It's depth of 10km (6.2 miles), according to USGS. The epicenter of the quake was located 17.9 km (11.1 miles) southwest of the city of Kumamoto, inhabited by over 680,000 people.
