AUSTRALIA’s welfare cards land in controversy
Australia is hoping to reduce alcohol abuse in some Aboriginal communities by introducing a welfare card which cannot be used to buy alcohol. However, the idea is not popular with many indigenous people who say restrictions on their welfare payments are a return to the racist policies of Australia's past.
