Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi confirmed that a third person took part in last week's Bardo museum terror attack in an interview Sunday with French TV Station iTele. "There were for certain three terrorists," Essebsi said. "There is one on the run. He will not get far." Previously two suspects had been identified -- Yassine Labidi and Saber Khachnaou -- though it wasn't immediately clear if they were the pair killed at the museum by Tunisian security forces.
Un terzo terrorista ha partecipato all'assalto al Bardo di Tunisi del 18 marzo (23 vittime), il più grave attacco terroristico in Tunisia dal 2002. Il presidente della Repubblica tunisina Beji Caid Essebsi, in un’intervista in tv dal museo, ha detto che gli inquirenti «stanno dando la caccia» al terzo attentatore, che è in fuga ma - assicura - «non andrà lontano». Già sabato il ministero dell’Interno tunisino aveva diffuso la foto di un’altra persona sospettata in relazione all’attacco al museo del Bardo e aveva chiesto ai cittadini di aiutare le autorità con informazioni in merito. Essebsi ha spiegato che sono le immagini delle telecamere di sicurezza a mostrare che ci sono tre individui armati. Pare dunque che il riferimento sia al giovane Maher Ben Muldi Gaidi, per il quale è stato emesso un mandato di ricerca e cattura come «presunto coinvolto» nell’attacco. Gli altri due attentatori, Habib Essid e Jabeur Khachnaoui (addestrati in un campo jihadista in Libia) sono morti durante l’attacco.
