CANADA - Mystery liquid pouring onto TTC tracks, shutting down service between Bloor and Union
Toronto subway service has been suspended on Line 1, the Yonge-University-Spadina line, between Bloor and Union station due to an unknown leakage of fluid onto the tracks near College station.
TTC officials suspect the spill is oil, gasoline or kerosene and is potentially dangerous. They say the transit authority had no choice but to shut down service until the spill is cleaned.
"What was striking to me is that it's not just dripping through the ceiling — it's pouring through the ceiling," said TTC CEO Andy Byford. The liquid is pooling on the track bed, he added.
Packed shuttle buses are operating between Bloor and St. Andrew stations.
