An Italian priest who recently admitted to “grave acts” on a teenage girl hanged himself in the vestry of his church, it’s emerged. It came on Tuesday only moments before a bishop came to announce the priest’s side-lining, announced the diocese of Trieste, in north-east Italy. Maks Suard, 48, had told Trieste’s bishop – during a telephone conversation days earlier – of historic acts on a 13-year-old girl, according to AFP. He then asked His Grace Giampaolo Crepaldi for two days to prepare a letter begging forgiveness to God, the Church and the victim, reported the news agency. But, when the bishop arrived on Tuesday (October 28) afternoon to officially notify the priest of his firing from the parish, he found him hanged in the church’s vestry.The Trieste diocese asked in a statement that people pray for the soul of the priest. The diocese also expressed regrets that the case could not follow its “canon and judicial path” which could have brought the priest “a human and Christian recovery desirable in the respect of the laws”.
Si e' venuto a sapere che un prete italiano, che di recente aveva ammesso "gravi atti" su una ragazza adolescente, si è impiccato nella sagrestia della sua chiesa. Il suicidio del prete e' avvenuto martedì, pochi istanti prima che il vescovo annunciasse la vestitura del prete, come ha annunciato la diocesi di Trieste.. Maks Suard, di 48 anni, aveva detto il vescovo di Trieste - nel corso di una conversazione telefonica avvenuta giorni antecedenti - aveva dichiarato di aver compiuto atti illeciti su una ragazza di 13 anni. L' agenzia stampa AFP ha anche dichiarato che il prete aveva chiesto tempo qualche giorno al Vescovo Giampaolo Crepaldi per preparare una lettera chiedendo perdono a Dio, alla Chiesa e alla vittima. Ma ieri, al suo arrivo nel pomeriggio per notificare ufficialmente al sacerdote quanto fatto nella parrocchia, il Vescovo ha trovato impiccato il sacerdote nella sacrestia della chiesa. La diocesi di Trieste ha chiesto in un comunicato che la gente preghi per l'anima del prete. La diocesi ha anche espresso rammarico che il caso non potesse seguire il suo "canone e percorso giudiziario", che potrebbe potuto portare il sacerdote ad essere un umano con il recupero cristiano nel rispetto delle leggi".
