A seven-year-old girl who was apparently shot in the head in Sussex has died in hospital, police have confirmed.
Mary Shipstone was attacked outside her home on Thursday afternoon. The body of a man, believed to be Yasser Alromisse, the girl's estranged father, was found at the scene, but is yet to be formally identified. In a statement, Mary's family wrote: "We are today grieving the death of our beautiful and loving Mary.
"We would please ask that the public and media respect our privacy and allow us to try to come to terms with what has happened." Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident, and are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.
