Losing a few minutes to describe a popular festival celebrated in one of the most famous cities in the world, is only pleasure. Many foreign tourists may not know that in July of each year is celebrated the Feast of the Redeemer in Venice. It is a celebration of all simple but original is the event that recalls the building by order of the Venetian Senate (4 September 1576) of the Church of the Redeemer as a votive offering for the city's deliverance from the plague of 1575-1577, a scourge that caused the death of more than a third of the population of the city in just two years. And this celebration is still active for almost 5 centuries.
The Saturday before the third Sunday in July is open along a votive bridge of boats, set up the Giudecca Canal connecting the island with the rafts at the Church of the Holy Spirit, thus enabling the pedestrian of the Church of the Redeemer.
Inaugurated the celebrations the blessing of the Patriarch of Venice, which takes place on the steps of the Redeemer at the time of the opening of the bridge, as the crowd begins its procession to the Giudecca.
Following the first celebration of the Eucharist 19.30 which is followed 0.30am and eight on Sunday.
In addition to the religious character, the party should be remembered for a great show of fireworks that takes place in the night between Saturday and Sunday at St. Mark's Basin and the three typical Venetian boats regattas organized on the next day, and thus attracting a large audience from all over the world.

Perdere qualche minuto per descrivere una festa popolare celebrata in una delle più famose citta  del mondo, fa solo piacere. Moltissimi turisti stranieri forse non sanno che nel mese di Luglio di ogni anno, viene celebrata la Festa del Redentore, a Venezia. Si tratta di una celebrazione del tutto semplice ma originale: è l'evento che ricorda la costruzione per ordine del Senato veneziano (4 settembre 1576) della Chiesa del Redentore quale ex voto per la liberazione della città dalla peste del 1575-1577, flagello che provocò la morte di più di un terzo della popolazione della città in soli due anni. E questa celebrazione è ancora attiva da quasi 5 secoli.
Il sabato che precede la terza domenica di luglio viene aperto un lungo ponte votivo di barche, allestito sul Canale della Giudecca collegando l'isola con le Zattere all'altezza della Chiesa dello Spirito Santo, consentendo così il raggiungimento pedonale della Chiesa del Redentore.
Inaugura i festeggiamenti la benedizione del Patriarca di Venezia, che ha luogo sulle gradinate del Redentore nel momento dell'apertura del ponte, mentre la folla inizia la sua processione verso la Giudecca.
Segue la prima celebrazione eucaristica delle 19.30, alla quale seguono quella delle 0.30 e le otto della domenica.
Oltre che per il carattere religioso, la festa va ricordata per un grande spettacolo di fuochi d'artificio che si tiene nella notte tra il sabato e la domenica sul Bacino di San Marco e per le tre regate di imbarcazioni tipiche veneziane organizzate nella giornata successiva, attraendo così un pubblico vasto e proveniente da tutto il mondo.
