ECHO TOUR OF ATYRAU
City overworked because of the giant Kashagan project which finds hard to start, Atyrau has shown what it is possible and more, to give something in alternative to the monotony of the the time after work of locals and expatriate staff , opening different nightclubs and restaurants, both in the form of local traditional and copying of foreign local . However, despite the efforts, the inhabitants are struggling or show little interest in spending the evenings in a much more cultural and diversified mode .
Last week it was the turn of a group of students, dancers of the school of Tango, to give a short evening show; today, Saturday April 26, after three weeks of waiting for the permit issued by Akimat of the city, organizers from Almaty, with the sponsorship of different Companies in the oil consortium , managed to organize a short tour of the city by cycling .
From the urban point of view, Atyrau is a place overcrowded with cars and anything fitted to the road lane. Few, if not rare, the bikes used, and the excuse is given to the difficulty of circular confident with that means of transport . Yet Atyrau has so much space that would allow bike-routes with three lanes!
The organizers have made it clear that the transport, nowadays , has to be the most environmentally friendly as possible, and this can be achieved by using the bicycle.
At 11 in the morning, 280 people have willingly hired cycles and, escorted by the local police for security , have traveled 5 km in a day of beautiful weather, with a beautiful and warm sunshine. Very friendly media have also hired compounds , a modern classic Rotterdam tricycles dump covered or uncovered , long style bicycles , pedal boats in two places. All in an environment full of serenity and entertainment , with children rejoiced to something different from the usual.
